Katrina

Here is some new stuff.  I wrote this with the inspiration and help of a couple friends around the new year (Thanks Doug and Kevin).  To be recorded soon.  Take from it what you will.  For me it’s loaded with all sorts of meaning.  I think there is what is obvious but even that is loaded with my life right now.  My frustration and my lament.  The start of something new and the begging to be heard.  I’m looking forward to recording this with my good friend Paul up in Seattle in April.  I’ll get you all a link to it when it’s all finished!

——————————————————–

He took the first train to New Orleans
Downed a bottle of Jack
We all said he was crazy
But now he’s livin’ on the first tracks

No matter how far
No matter how high
The floods rise
I’ll be there

I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna kiss LA goodbye
I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna kiss LA goodbye

She was his girl and he was her man
She would run her fingers through his hair
Katrina baby let’s dance for awhile
Let’s make this last all night long

No matter how far
No matter how high
The floods rise
I’ll be there

I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna kiss LA goodbye
I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna see it through his eyes

Amazing grace
How sweet your sound
As you let
My world drown
I’m so lost
Want to be found
Show me
Higher ground
Please show me higher ground

I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna kiss LA goodbye
I’m on the first train outta here
Gonna kiss LA goodbye
